It's Cinemalaya season once again!
Cinemalaya is a non profit organization geared at the betterment of Filipino film and cinema by encouraging new "talents" to produce films " that boldly articulate and freely interpret the Filipino experience with fresh insight and artistic integrity" (taken from the Cinemalaya website). Each year, ten filmmakers are given a grant to produce the films that they want to create, and these films are then showed in the Cinemalaya Festival.
In a few days, the country's most prominent independent film fest will be showing this year's film entries. Last year's Cinemalaya marked the first time that the festival ran their films simultaneously in two venues (CCP and Greenbelt), and this year's festival promises not two, but three venues– CCP, Greenbelt, and now Trinoma. Perfect! (This not including their UP showing)
Tickets have been available since June 10. Per person it is PHP 150 per screening, PHP 500 for a whole day pass (4 films), and PHP 3,000 for a festivals (unlimited pass for all screenings at the CCP venue).
I have got to stop making excuses, and actually make it to this year's Cinemalaya.
